A revolution is occurring in the design and construction industry. This revolution is driven by the deep dissatisfaction felt by many industry stakeholders (e.g., owners, designers, constructors and lenders) that design and construction services are delivered too inefficiently in an atmosphere of uncertainty and controversy. Many believe there must be a better way but, until recently, there was little in the way of concrete guidance. This is beginning to change with the rapid assimilation of new technology tools, such as building information modeling, creating better platforms for collaboration and novel project delivery approaches holding the promise of better buildings delivered in a more cooperative environment. The principles of integrated project delivery are generating a great deal of discussion among industry players and are being explored for use in future development. The American Institute of Architects, in a joint effort with AIA-California Council, recently published its most extensive thoughts on IPD in the Integrated Project Delivery: A Guide. A copy of the IPD Guide can be obtained at the AIA’s website (www.aia.org).
This OnDemand Webinar will provide you with the basics of the AIA’s documents on integrated project delivery and building information modeling. As an industry thought-leader, the AIA and its contract documents are properly viewed as trend-setting. By order this OnDemand Webinar, you’ll learn the basics of IPD, the AIA’s approach to IPD, the basics of BIM, the AIA’s approach to BIM, and the benefits of IPD and BIM.
